Veteran's Day DD-214 Unfiltered IPA Release Day!
Epidemic Ales Veteran's Day Beer Release is Sat. November 11, 2023 from 12pm-10pm.
Our annual beer, "DD-214 Unfiltered IPA," 6.7% ABV, was named by Veterans and brewed each year in collaboration with Veterans. We've been brewing this special beer for 5 years and each year on Veteran's Day we offer all Vets & Active Military BOGO pints of DD-214 on beer release day!
What is a DD-214? It's the Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty that identifies one as a Veteran. A DD-214 Certificate is issued upon a military service member's retirement, separation or discharge from Active Duty.
Each year we welcome Veterans to help us on brew day of DD-214 at Epidemic Ales in Concord, CA. We have a wonderful customer base of Veterans, and this year we recognize our new team member, Epidemic Ales Sales Representative Jordan Kirchner, who is a Marine Corps Veteran.
Jim Brown (brewery owner Holly's Dad) is a Combat Vietnam Veteran Lieutenant and Purple Heart Recipient. Jim calls in remotely from SD each year on brew day to give the team a pep talk and to meet other Veterans at our brew day - he's the best! And he loves a good fresh IPA.
Veterans representing The Coast Guard, Army, & Marine Corps join us throughout the day. We all share stories, take pictures, get involved in the brewing process, and toast to Veteran's Day and our special release.

DD-214 IPA only uses the special Yakima Chief Veteran’s Blend Hops in all kettle additions and dry hop so you can really get the flavor & aromatics from the special mix of hops. It’s a citrus-forward IPA that is tropical and super fresh! The Veteran's Hop Blend is chosen each year by military Veteran brewers at Yakima Chief representing multiple branches of the US Armed Forces.
A portion of the proceeds from the Yakima Chief Blend is donated to Homes For Our Troops, a national nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans.hfotusa.org.
The DD-214 Unfiltered IPA will be released on Veteran's Day but the beer will remain on tap and in cans through November at Epidemic Ales, where have a brewery and taproom with 25 rotating taps including nitro beers and beer slushies. We also host daily rotating food trucks and weekly events including trivia, games, & more. Please note we ALWAYS offer a military discount at the taproom.
